Who we are

avocet.dev is run by Chris Gmyr, a sole proprietor in North Carolina, USA, trading as Avocet. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Chris Gmyr, and "you" means anyone who uses the site.

By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

What these terms cover

These terms cover the avocet.dev website, including its docs and changelog, and the Avocet waitlist. They do not cover the Avocet app itself. How we handle your personal data is described in our privacy policy.

Using the site

You may read, link to and share pages from the site. Please do not:

  • attack, overload or try to break into the site or the systems behind it;
  • get around its rate limits or bot protection;
  • submit signups by script or in bulk;
  • sign up an email address that is not yours;
  • use the site to break the law.

We may block access to anyone who does these things.

The waitlist

Joining the waitlist means we may email you about Avocet. It does not reserve anything or promise you access, a release date, availability, or any particular price or terms. We may change our plans for Avocet, or close the waitlist, at any time.

You can leave the waitlist at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by emailing [email protected].

Avocet is a meeting recorder. You are responsible for getting consent to record where the law requires it. Recording laws differ by place, and some require every person on a call to agree. Nothing on this site is legal advice.

Docs and changelog

The docs and changelog describe Avocet as it was when each page was written. We try to keep them accurate, but they may lag behind the app.

Content and trademarks

The site's text, design and screenshots, and the Avocet name and logo, belong to Chris Gmyr. You may quote short parts of the site with a link back. Please do not copy the site, or use the Avocet name or logo in a way that suggests we made, endorse or are connected with something we did not.

The site may link to sites we do not run. We are not responsible for their content or how they handle your data.

Disclaimers

The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises about the site, including that it will be available, accurate or without errors, and we disclaim all implied warranties, such as merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, that come from your use of the site or the waitlist. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you, and nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute about the site goes to the state or federal courts located in North Carolina. If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may also bring a claim in your local courts.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we update the date at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after a change, the new terms apply.
