Fixed

• Update checks work behind VPNs. If your VPN or company network inspects secure traffic, update checks used to fail with "Could not check for updates. Try again." Avocet now trusts the certificates installed in your macOS keychain, the same ones your browser uses.
• Failed checks say why. When an update check fails, Settings > About shows the reason under the message. See Settings.
• Updates wait for every meeting. Install and restart now waits until no meeting is recording, paused or processing, and checks again after the download finishes.
• The menu bar popover shows updates clearly. Its update banner uses the accent color and a download icon, so it stands out in light mode. The popover also fits on small screens, with Open Avocet and Quit always visible.
• The update switch in first-launch setup matches the one in Settings.

Good to know

If you are on 0.3.0 and your update checks fail behind a VPN, install this version by hand once. Later updates will arrive inside the app.

What's new

• In-app updates. Avocet checks for a newer version when it starts and shows the release notes in Settings > About. It installs only when you click Install and restart, and never while a recording or its processing is running. Turn off Automatically check for updates in Settings > About if you prefer, and use Check now whenever you want. See Settings.
• Silent-track warnings. The widget and tray now tell you when a track stops producing audio: the microphone goes silent, no audio buffers arrive, or system audio never starts. See Recording.
• A tidier About page. Version details and update settings now use the same rows, switch and spacing as the rest of Settings.

Fixed

• Tooltips are never cut off by the panel they sit in.
• Pressing a transcript row no longer scrolls it out from under the pointer, so Reassign opens where you clicked.

Good to know

This is the one version you install by hand. From here on, updates arrive inside the app.

Update checks contact updates.avocet.dev and reveal your IP address. Your current version and architecture are used on this Mac to choose an update. Meeting audio and transcripts are not sent. See Where your data lives.

What's new

Avocet 0.2.0 is a full visual redesign, screen by screen: the Meetings list, meeting view, Speakers, Settings, the tray popover, the command bar, and the keyboard shortcut sheet.

• The floating recording widget, redesigned. It starts compact and expands with a click, and it remembers where you left it on screen.
• Word-level speaker reassignment. Drag or Shift-click to select an exact run of words, even across different speakers, and reassign just that selection instead of a whole segment.
• A headphones-or-speakers notice. Avocet now tells you when your Mac's speakers might be bleeding into the microphone, so you know to switch to headphones for a clean transcript.
• A Bluetooth badge in the tray popover, explaining the call-quality limit on Bluetooth microphones.
• Hardware microphone mute from the tray popover.
• Faster, clearer dictionary import. Importing rules now shows its progress and keeps the app responsive on large files.
• Settings redone as one searchable window, with a page per section and every page reachable from Cmd+,. See Settings.

Fixed

• Word-level speaker reassignment no longer fails with a "Transcript changed" error.
• Revoked permissions are shown clearly, in the tray popover and in a banner across the window, instead of failing silently.

Good to know

This release matches the app to its full design pass, so most screens look different from earlier versions even where the underlying behavior did not change. See Getting started if anything in the new layout is unfamiliar.
