Where your data lives

Avocet does not send your audio or transcripts anywhere. Recording, transcription, and speaker matching all run on this Mac, using models downloaded during setup, and again only if you re-download or verify them in Settings.

Your meeting notes and audio

Each meeting gets its own dated folder under ~/Documents/Avocet/, containing your markdown note, a JSON transcript, and two audio files: mic.flac for your side and system.flac for everyone else. Audio is kept permanently unless you delete the meeting yourself. See Exporting for what is in each file.

The database

Everything else, meeting metadata, speaker identities, voiceprints, your dictionary rules, and your settings, lives in one SQLite database at ~/Library/Application Support/dev.avocet.app/avocet.db. The database is the source of truth; your markdown notes and JSON files are generated from it and stay in sync automatically.

Models

The transcription and speaker-matching models you downloaded during setup live under ~/Library/Application Support/dev.avocet.app/models/. They run locally and are not re-downloaded unless you ask Avocet to verify or re-download them in Settings > Transcripts > Models.

Diagnostics

When debug capture is on, Avocet writes a small log and a snapshot file inside each meeting's folder to help diagnose a problem. These stay on your Mac with everything else and are never uploaded anywhere.

Update checks

Avocet checks updates.avocet.dev for a newer version when automatic checks are enabled. You can turn Automatically check for updates off in Settings > About, or use Check now to request a check yourself.

Update checks contact updates.avocet.dev and reveal your IP address. Your current version and architecture are used on this Mac to choose an update. Meeting audio and transcripts are not sent.

Deleting a meeting

Deleting a meeting removes its folder, its markdown note, and its database rows. This is permanent. There is no trash or undo.
