Exporting
Where your meeting notes live on disk, what is in them, and how to copy or move them.
Every meeting is also a markdown note and a JSON transcript file, kept in sync with what you see in Avocet.
Where files go
By default, exports live under ~/Documents/Avocet/. Each meeting gets its own dated folder, for example 2026-03-14 - Weekly sync/, containing:
- a markdown note named after the meeting,
mic.flacandsystem.flac, your two recorded audio tracks, transcript.json, the full transcript with timing and speaker data,- and, if debug capture is on, a couple of small diagnostic files.
You can change where exports are written in Settings > Transcripts > Export.
What is in the note
The markdown note has a frontmatter block with the meeting's title, date, times, duration, source app, and attendees, followed by empty Summary and Action Items sections for you to fill in, and the transcript itself. Consecutive lines from the same speaker are grouped into paragraphs with timestamps.
Staying in sync
Any change you make in Avocet, correcting a speaker, adding a dictionary rule, renaming a meeting, regenerates the note and the JSON file right away. Avocet only touches its own frontmatter fields and the transcript section; anything else you write in the note, including a status field or your own notes elsewhere in the file, is preserved.
Copying without leaving Avocet
From a meeting's header, Copy transcript regenerates the note first, then places the grouped transcript text on your clipboard.
